P6 User Group – January 14th Meeting

Subjects: How to Perform a Primavera P6 Health Assessment
Presenters: Michelle Smith, Critical Business Analysis

Recording of webinar:

Now that some time has passed since your company implemented P6, you may have questions like, “Is there a better way we could be using P6? How are other companies doing it? Did we really set P6 up right in the first place? How do I know if I should be using other features of P6?”

At this stage, it’s wise to revisit your approach to the way you are using P6. Is it working for you? If not, why and what can be done to improve things? Do you need to define and standardize P6 related processes? Is now the right time to begin leveraging some of the other features of the tool like cost management, resource management or portfolio management? Should you consider integrating P6 with other programs? All this can be determined by conducting a P6 Health Assessment for your organization. What is a P6 Health Assessment and how can you do this?

The objective of a P6 Health Assessment is to perform an evaluation of your organization’s current use of P6. To review your existing P6 set-up and configuration and conduct interviews with a variety of internal representatives from the Director, Project Controls Manager, Project Manager, Project Scheduler and IT Administrative Support levels about the current use of P6 project management software tools and related project control processes. The goal is to identify areas for improvement and suggest a plan for product use enhancements and process standardization.

  • Review Current Processes Related to P6
  • Review Current P6 Configuration and Set-up
  • Make Recommendations for Improvement

Our discussion will focus on an organized, four step approach to conducting a P6 Health Assessment and determine if your company is utilizing their P6 software investment in the most efficient and profitable way possible.

This webinar focuses on the features and functionality of Primavera P6 Visualizer. During this webinar, the participant will be introduced to logging into P6 Visualizer, opening existing Gantt Chart and Timescale Logic Diagram layouts, creating new Gantt Chart and Timescale Logic Diagram layouts, and modifying existing Gantt Chart and Timescale Logic Diagram layouts.
